Forget Hair Reduction And Beautify Yourself With A Beautiful Wig

In my article Why Black Women Don’t Get Married, I expressed that Black women have a hard time finding a mate because of three reasons: there is a shortage of Black men, Black women are already adapted to being the head of the family, and Black women refuse to date outside the Black community. But now, I want to elaborate on why Black men don’t seem to want to be married.

But the question must be raised again; can single Black mothers raise boys to be men? There are many single Black mothers who tout their ability to do so, but are they only raising them to a standard of the type of man that they want.

However, it’s the myriad stories that Rock brings to light about the quest for good hair throughout this film that gives it it’s cultural punch. Rock visits urban black hair salons where women and young children willingly undergo a regular ritual where their hair is chemically straightened with a mixture that Rock comically gives the name “Creamy Crack”. These hair relaxers or straighteners have been used by white women black men dating site for decades… but, in the film “Good Hair”… the process that is so taken for granted within the black community is now on display for all to see.

Considering that, Black women can still get married just like White women; they just have to be willing to expand their interest and date outside the box. I know that can be difficult because I am also a Black woman, and even though white women black men dating site date other races, it is not as acceptable for us to date other races because of our responsibilities in the Black community. In the Black culture, dating outside the race is viewed as abandoning the community. It is viewed as some kind of betrayal. Because white women black men dating site have “left the community” and the Black family (in more ways than one), the only person left to hold up the community, or the culture, is us.

I understand this sounds like whining, but I hope you can understand our perspective-or my perspective. Considering our country’s history, we should be glad to see black people and white people getting along and dating. It is a step forward. We should be proud-not angry.

Afros are making a comeback, so don’t be hesitant if you see a 3 foot Afro on a famous rapper or singer. Everyone critiqued Lenny Kravitz when he wittingly wore an Afro in his famous video for American Woman, but now more and more people are bringing back this classic hairstyle from the 60s and 70s.

Since we’re thought of as “different” than let’s be different, so that one day we can be first and not last. Say to yourself every once and while “I am my people,” Meaning, if all of our people were just like you, would we be better off or worse?
